Khajuraho. This temple that was built in 9th century is believed to be built during the rule of Chandela dynasty.
Jhansi
Located 18 kms from Orchha, Jhansi other than the connecting train to Delhi does not have much available for a tourist, besides the Jhansi Fort .However, the history buffs might be interested to visit the place where Lakshmi Rani Bai, who became a popular figure during the uprising of 1857 against the British, waged her battle against the British.
Datia
Another little town located about 50 kms from Orchha with an interesting history and yet another Jahangir Mahal. The palace however was considered by Lutyen as one of the most interesting building in India. The fort that was built in 1620 is about 130 ft. high with seven floors and 2 underground floors.
There are few more palaces and other structures around the palace including some cenotaphs and a not much happening museum.
