Just like other towns in the state of Kerala, there is not much of the nightlife. However , in Varkala ,you can still enjoy the fine aspects of dining while overlooking the sea .
Eating at a restaurant , getting a drink at the bar or just enjoying the local musical performance , can be your source of entertainment in this town.

great views. During the night you will need the flashlight or a torch as it gets pretty dark and the way might not be lit well.
As other places in Kerala you can catch a performance of traditional ‘Kathakali’ here as well .Varkala cultural centre hosts Kathakali performances most of the evenings during the season. ( Tel: 0470-26087930) . Tickets are priced under $4.
Side Trips :
Varkala is a small beach town located about 50 Kms north of Trivandrum. This leaves you close to the state capital. From Varkala you are not very far from Kovalam beach or even further south to luxury resorts. The distance is say roughly about 70 Kms. Kanyakumari , located on the southern end of India , where Arabian sea meets up with Indian ocean, is only about 150 Kms away from Varkala .From Varkala you are also about 3 to 4 hours bus or car ride to Cochin, Munnar or even Alleppey.
