Sarnath:
By far the most important Side-trip you will take on your trip to Varanasi. The city of Sarnath, located roughly 15 Kms north of Varanasi, is the place where Buddha preached his first sermon. With magnificent Stupas and Ashoka’s Pillar, this half-a-day trip is well worth your time. |

A trip Varanasi should include a boat ride in river Ganga.
2.
A side-trip to Sarnath is very desirable. It takes not more than few hours from your schedule.
3. Beware of pick-pockets and touts.
4. A ‘Banarasi Silk Saree’ can be picked for cheap as an Indian wear.
