Places to go to :

1. Gateway of India
 This landmark of Mumbai is a must visit of the city. It was built way back in 1911 to commemorate the visit of King George V and Queen Mary for the Delhi Durbar. Prince of Wales Museum is also a must see.  To get to Elephanta island and other beaches one has to reach this area as this is the departing point for the ferries.

This is one of the finest build architectural beauty in the world. Built in 1888 by the British, it is marked by distinct panels and ornamentation. It holds the statue of Queen Victoria on its dome. This terminal is on the list of World Heritage Sites.

3. Mahatma Jyotiba Phule Market (Crawford Market)
This busy market area is best visited early on in the day. The fruits and vegetable section offers the best of produce. 

4. Horiman Circle and the Town Hall
Formerly known as Elphinestone Circle, Horiman Circle is named after a newspaper Editor. This institution was established in the eighteenth century and very little changes have been made ever since which definitely makes itself worth a visit.

5. National Gallery of Modern Art (NGMA)
This is the former Cowasji Jehangir Hall, of the Institute of Science. A four storey exhibition hall, NGMA displays the best of Indian contemporary art. Open daily except Monday, from 10 am to 5 pm.

6. Juhu Beach
Mumbaites enjoy this suburban beach which seems to be their best hang out area. Like Marine Drive's Chowpatty, Juhu 'Chowpatty' is a vendor's delight with numerous food stalls. The best place for kids, this beach has an amusement park, play ground, and open-air restaurant. Camel ride is also one feature that attracts a lot of tourists here.

7. Mani Bhavan Mahatma Gandhi Museum
Mani Bhavan was Mahatma Gandhi’s Bombay base between 1917 and 1934.Made of polished wood one can see walls covered with historically significant photographs. The most interesting feature is the letter for peace that Mahatma Gandhi wrote to Hitler.

8.Elephanta
Elephanta island is marked with scenic beauty and a relief from the typical hectic life style of Mumbai. It is an hour’s drive from Colaba. This island is populated by the fishermen popularly known as Gharapuri.

9.Hutatma Chowk (Flora Fountaion)
This five-point intersection is located in the heart of Fort area. Hutatma Chowk also known as “Martyr’s Square” has been made to commemorate the freedom fighters that died to establish Maharashtra in the Indian Union. This roundabout was formerly called as Flora Fountain.

Mumbai a fast paced city has many places where one can find aesthetic beauty as well as peace. Some of those places are:

1. Siddhivinayak Temple
 This popular temple dedicated to Ganesh was rebuilt on the site of a 200-year old temple. The idol of Ganesh is built in Black stone and is two and half feet tall. What makes this temple interesting is that here the trunk of Ganesh is turned towards right which is not found on other Ganesh idols. Tuesday is the main day of darshan and puja. 

2. Haji Ali Bukhari
It is the mausoleum of the Muslim saint, Haji Ali Bukhari. One can observe a line of beggars along the path. The best time to enjoy the tombs beauty is in the evening when viewed from the shore.

3. St. Thomas Cathedral
It is situated on the Tamarind Street and claims to be the oldest British building in Mumbai. It has the famous ‘cannon-ball-proof roof’.

4. Mahalaxmi Temple
This holy site was made to worship Mahalaxmi who is the Goddess of wealth. It is situated at one end of Breach Candy also known as B.Desai Road, which is a trendy residential and shopping area.
