| Being in Mumbai one can not help indulging in the vast variety of food available. From the posh five stars to the not so fancy street food, everything has its own charm and its own price tag. Street food is an attractive feature which includes Bhel Puri (a perfect mixture of puffed rice, potatoes, onions, chili powder, tamarind water, coriander, deep fried vermicelli and crispy Puri pieces), Pao Bhaji (mixed vegetables mashed , cooked |

and served with a portion of bread) and Kanji Vadas (doughnuts soaked in mustard and chilly sauce) and constitutes an all time favorite amongst the Mumbaikers.
One thing that is certainly not to be missed is Konkan or the coastal food. Konkan is the local specialty also available in inexpensive places.

The best place to sample South
Indian fast food, though available on every second street, is the Udipi restaurant A.Ramanayak Udipi Shri Krishna Boarding. The best part is the serving of
food which is done on a banana leaf and is considered as the authentic Madras style where you eat with hands. The meal itself is very cheap, available at Rs 45.
Kebabs are best available at Noorani Haji Ali.
Vegetarians are well catered for as there is a wide range of inexpensive breads and pastries available along with Chinese restaurants offering “Indianized Chinese.
”All Stir Fry, Garden House Hotel. Here one needs to make one’s own meals from a variety of fresh vegetables, fish, meat, noodles and sauces. It is cooked right in front of you and each serving, per bowl, costs Rs150-200.
Churchill, is a 26 seater Parsi diner, mostly meat based, no alcohol is served. Costs around Rs.130.
Mumbai is the best place to indulge in seafood. The most exotic, finger licking seafood is served here, whether its coastal, Konkani, Manglorean or Malvani cuisine. Mahesh Lunch Home, Trishna and Apoorva are some of those places that cater to your seafood taste buds.
Soul Kadi, a coconut milk drink should be tried if a Konkan Restaurant is visited.
Pisces, is based on fish theme and its décor is typically done that way. Tamarind prawns is on of the main attractions along with malai chingri( cashew nut based coconut curry served with prawns) and sorso batta mach( fish cooked in mustard sauce).
Bademiya, behind the Taj, serves some mouth watering kebabs. From flame grilled chicken, mutton to fish steaks all freshly wrapped in hot rotis and served instantly makes one consume it instantly too! Busaba, sophisticated bar-restaurant specializes in Asian cuisines, including Thai curries and Tibetan food.
Gujarati and Rajasthani cuisine is also something that shouldn’t be missed. Served in a steel thali, food comes in at least six to eight bowls (katoris) along with steaming hot rice, rotis and puris. The favorite beverage is Chaas which is super thin cumin flavored buttermilk. These thalis start from Rs50 to Rs250.
To gorge from a 56 item all Vegetarian buffet (no garlic and no onions), one can visit Govinda, at the Hare Krishna Temple in Juhu. Everything here is cooked in pure ghee.The Olive Bar & Kitchen, situated in Bandra serves Italian cuisine, and is popular with Indian models and Bollywood stars.
