Periyar Wildlife Sanctuary
Situated on the banks of artificial Lake Periyar, the Sanctuary with its deciduous forest and savannah grassland is set amidst the Western Ghats. The Sanctuary plays host to Elephants, Langurs, Tiger, Lions, Sambar, Dole, Lion-tale Macaque and Bonnet Macaque.

The Periyar Wildlife sanctuary encompasses a 777 square kilometers area with Lake Periyar using 26 Sq Kms of it. At the sanctuary there are ample of
opportunities for boat rides and hiking through the forest. In addition, Elephant rides and treks through the Mangala Devi temple ruins are also available. The sanctuary is open from early morning till sunset. The best time to visit is from September to May.
Spice Gardens
The tour to Spice gardens is another popular thing in this area. These tours are organized by almost all the spice shops and are very reasonable priced. There are various spice plantations in the area which grow Cardamom, Nutmeg and Pepper.
