Shopping : |
Kolkata has something to suit any type of budget. From those on a shoe-string budget to those who have enough and more to spare, Kolkata has markets that cater to the needs of everyone.
Places such as New Market (closed on Sunday), AC Market, College Street, Fancy market (closed on Monday) or the Dakshinapan Complex (closed on Sunday) are markets selling everything from jewellery, |

clothes, trinkets, crockery, to candles. These are places where you need to shop with all your might!
Apart from these, there are numerous shops down Chowringhee road selling an assortment of goods from carpets to handicrafts. The Central Cottage emporium at 7 Chowringhee road is the finest place to be in if you are looking at ethnic Indian merchandise.
Caneware is ridiculously economical in Kolkata, compared to the West. If you are flying straight home, it would be a good idea to take some. Although it tends to be unwieldy, it is rather light and a delight once placed in the right places.
