Har-ki-Pauri :
It is also known as Brahmakund. Bhartrihari brother of King Vikramaditya used to come on this ghat for meditation. In memory of his brother King Vikramaditya got this ghat constructed. The main grand Ganga Aarti is held here everyday in the evening. It is an experience which can’t be put in words.It just cannot be missed.
Mansa Devi :
Mansa Devi is on top of the hill of Bilwa Parvat. Can be reached either 5 minute through rope way or can be trekked through an interesting lush green pathway. Once on top you get the most exotic view of Haridwar.
Chandi Devi :
Chandi Devi was constructed by the king of Kashmir- Suchat Singh, atop the
Neel Parvat on the other bank of river
Ganga. A 3 km trek from Chandighat. It is said that the the place got the name Chandi Devi when army chief Chanda-Munda of a local demon King Shumbh- Nishumbha was killed by goddess Chandi.
Daksha Mahadev Temple :
Mythology says that the yagya was performed by King Daksha Prajapati . His daughter Sati was married to Lord Shiva. Sati could not bare the insult of her husband Shiva not being invited for “Yagna”( Hindu prayer around fire) and burnt herself at the “Yagna” Kund ( Fireplace). The followers of Shiva on hearing this killed Daksha but Shiva got life back in him.
Maya Devi :
Maya Devi is also the Adhisthatri deity of Haridwar. It is said that When Lord Shiva was carrying his dead wife who burnt herself at the “Yagna”, her naval and heart fell at this place. It is one of the Shaktipeeths in India.
Sapt Rishi : is one of the most beautiful spots of Haridwar. This is the place from where Ganga folks into seven small streams. It is a good place to find serenity and peace.
Kavand Mela is held for 10 days during the Hindu months of Shravan & Phalgun.
Bhimgoda tank : Mythology says that Bhima made this tank with the blow of his knee when they were going to Himalayas for exile. It is about 1 km from Harki Pauri.Gurukul
