5. Dona Paula ( North Goa)
The most interesting or the scariest feature about this beach is that it is considered to be haunted. The romantic story of Dona Paula de Menezes and her lover has been the very reason behind this myth. This story goes back to the colonial days. Dona was the daughter of a viceroy and was prohibited from marrying her love who was a local Goan fisherman. To mark her protest she killed herself by jumping from a nearby cliff. And according to some you may occasionally catch a glimpse of her walking in the waves on moonlit nights. Apart from this water sports are also very popular here including para sailing, sports fishing, Kayaking, water skiing and so on. In its neighborhood one can find the National Oceanography institute. Tourist destination, Salim Ali Bird Sanctuary and the Reis Magos Church.
6. Aviator Beach ( North Goa)
Vagator is situated near Chapora, a fishing village. Here one can have a view of the Chapora fort designed in red stone, which is a Portuguese fort.
7. Bogmolo Beach ( South Goa)
It is situated 8km from Vasco Da Gama and is not as crowded as the Anjuna beach. The major attraction of this beach is diving. Recently a diving school has opened that gives diving courses. This is one of the few places where such a unique course is offered.
8. Majorda Beach ( South Goa)
A comparatively less visited beach, is known to sell the best of Goan toddy and European beads.
Beach Shacks
A mention of the shacks is important as not knowing them is not knowing Goa. Shacks are a common feature in most of the beaches. These are basically shelters and are equipped with beach beds, beach chairs and beach umbrellas. Here you get to have an exotic view of the beaches while sipping your drink or just relaxing. The best part about these shacks is the, cheap, tasty, local flavored food that you get.
