Delhi provides a large number of choices for everyone’s taste palette. Indian and Chinese food is perhaps the most popular and widely available for others you have to lookout for specific places in specific neighborhoods.
The list of great places is endless, however we have picked a few that you can try if you are in the neighborhood.
1). Bukhara, Maurya Sheraton Hotel and towers, CP Area

Perhaps one of the most famous restaurants with world celebrities as clients .f President Clinton to Bill Gates to Mick Jagger all have served their taste buds at this restaurant. From sumptuous “Kababs” to “Daal”, with ambience that hosts the who’s who, this place is definitely a notch above every things else. A meal to for 2 can be in the range of Rs 2000.
2). Dum Pukht, Maurya Sheraton Hotel & Towers, CP Area
Another restaurant in Maurya Sheraton to write and rave about. Seafood lovers can try out the food here. The ‘Kakori Kababs’ and the ‘Hara Kabab’ are all time favorite. There is also live music of Brian and Michael Silas adding to the ambience. A meal for two could cost you approximately Rs 2,500.
3). Karim Hotel, Jama Masjid, Old Delhi
This is one place that not only provides you with a historic ambience overlooking Jama Masjid, but also provides the Mughalai Cusine from the chefs that claim to be the direct descendants of the chefs in the Mughal empire’s kitchens ‘Barra Kabab’, Tadoori Raan’, ‘Nihari’, ‘Paaya’ are just one of every thing that tastes great here. A must visit. The hotel also has other outlets in Nizamuddin (South Delhi), New Friends Colony (south Delhi), Kailash Colony (South Delhi), Noida, Preet Vihar and Gurgaon.
A definite value of money, a great meal for 2 will cost you Rs 400.
4). Moti Mahal, located at various places
The restaurant offers one of the finest Indian foods. The outlets at Malcha Marg and GK-I are an up market version of the one in the Darya Ganj, (Old Delhi).
The outlet at Defence colony (South Delhi) is still one of the favorite of the frequent customers.
‘Dal Makhani’, ‘Butter Chicken’, ‘Reshmi Kabab’, and ‘Murgh Mussalam’ are the favourites. A meal for two at Rs 600 is a great price.
5). The Great Kabab Factory , multi-location
The Kabab factory basically offers a buffet for Kababs but with gourmet quality. Cooked at the live station and served sizzling hot along with variety of breads. A must go to try out Kababs.
The outlets are located at Fortune Arcade in Noida, Hotel Radisson on Gurgaon Highway , Park Plaza hotel in Gurgaon and Punjabi Bagh.
6). Sahara Restaurant, Vasant Kunj
With a great outdoor sitting with a live Indian music and Rajasthani dancers. Sahara is a great place for great ethnic ambience and food.
There is also an air-conditioned sitting inside although outside is a definite plus. Great Indian food. They also serve liquor. A meal for two will roughly cost you Rs 700.
7). Qureshi’s Kababs, multi- location
A nice eating place with very ordinary seating outside, more suitable for take away .Our local correspondent’s personal favorite for quick take away and very reasonable prices.
Located in Alaknanda (South Delhi),South Extension Part III (South Delhi) and Shopping Mall in DLF Phase I at Gurgaon. A meal for two will cost you Rs 200.
8). M Fifty Two, Greater Kailash II
Located in the nice locality of GK II the place offers the usual tandoori specialties and Goan Fish Curry. Pleasant ambience. Meal for two is for Rs.700.
9). Baluchi, Intercontinental The Grand ,CP Area
Lunch specials at Baluchi are very inviting and reasonably priced. At Rs 750 for non-veg platter and Rs. 650 for vegetarian, it’s a great deal at this 5- star hotel. With an ambience resembling a village with mud plastered walls this place is a must visit. Generally a meal for two will cost you Rs 1250.
10). Sanjha Chulha,Kailash Colony
A caterer with a small setup for sitting and large take away, the food is nice to say the least . With its authentic taste, The ‘Tawa Tangri’ and ‘Tawa Kalmi’ are great.
Other Rolls on the menu are very inviting as well. Meal for two can be as little Rs 125.
