Shopping in Chandigarh is more of an urban experience, sans the traffic problems of big cities.
With major brand stores, and a central location, sector -17 shopping complex forms the hub of the shopping activity in the City.

books and anything an avid shopper seeks. Other than a government store Phulkari, Sector –17 does not hold much in terms of ethnic Indian shopping. Sector 17 is also a major centre for government offices and banks.
Other than sector -17, the shops on Madhya Marg in sector-9 boasts of some new but hand-picked stores. The area also has some nice restaurants and salons.
Sector -35 is the newer part of the city with upcoming restaurants and hotels.
Sector -22 is famous for its jewelry shops and Indian Snack shops. It also holds a huge “Rehri Market” (term coined from the fact that vendors used to sell their goods from carts. Although this has transformed into smaller set of shops instead).
If you want to see a busy local market with fruits and vegetable vendors, a day to day goods shops , local students from nearby colleges and University , visit the Sector – 15 market.
Sector -11 market is the favorite hangout of college students. Although not of much interest for shopping it does hold interest of local population due to its proximity to the colleges around.
Other than this every Sector has its own local market that is visited by local residents for daily needs.
