Kalibangan
Located 250 kms from the city, the remains of Harappan settlements can be
found in this small town of Kalibanga, which is located in Hanumangarh district. Archaeology at Kalibanga reveals that Rajasthan’s contemporary potters were fully aware of the Indus Valley ceramic handicrafts and industry. It is almost as large as Harappa and Mohenjodaro, and designed on the same plan.
Deshnok-Karni Mata Temple
30 Km south from Bikaner, Deshnok Karni Mata is worshiped as an incarnation of goddess Durga. The temple is unique as the rats called Kabas are worshiped here. There is a belief that the souls of the devotees of the Karni Mata resides in rats and hence nobody ever think of causing any harm to them. It is highly auspicious to spot a white Kaba and to be touched by them. The temple has a beautiful silver door and a wire mesh which makes it beautiful.
Gajner Wildlife Sanctuary
The lake at Gajner attracts water birds in thousands, the imperial sand grouse from Siberia. Today it’s a sanctuary for Gazelles, Antelopes, Blackbuck, although this was once a hunting ground.
Royal Cenotaphs at Devi Kund Sagar
8km west of Bikaner is a man-made lake by the name of Devi Kund Sagar. The cenotaphs of Devi Kund Sagar are marble and red sandstone chhatris (cenotaphs) of Bikaner kings. Maharaja Suraj Singh's Chhatri is the most impressive of all, created entirely in white marble with spectacular Rajput paintings on the ceiling.
