|
Eating out and Restaurants : |
Bikaner does not have as much to offer as any major metro city of India but it being relying only on tourist trade every traveler gets his share of bite into the flavors that best suits his taste buds. It offers wide varieties like peanut butters, pancakes with maple syrups as dishes for breakfast.
Gram flour is a major ingredient and is used to make some of the delicacies like Khata, |
|
|
Gatta ki Sabzi and Pakodi. Powdered Lentils are used for Mangodi and Papad. Bajra and Corn are used all over the state for preparations of Rabdi, Kheechdi, and Rotis.
Restaurants meeting all budget sizes can easily be discovered from fine rich
locality to street lanes. Daal Baati Churma with desert grown herbs called “Kari Sangri” with Bajra Roti makes a perfect traditional Rajasthani meal .Wash it down with buttermilk or all flavored Lassis to complete the meal.
Non-vegetarian food is terrific as well . If one can handle the spices, go for the “Laal Mass” or “Junglee Mass” (lamb cooked in red hot chilli peppers). It’s a delicacy amongst the locals. As a matter of fact during the olden days the royal cooks were encouraged to experiment with stuffed camels, goats, wild boar, pigs and peacocks.
Due to scantiest of rainfall in the desert crops grown mainly are Bajra, Jowar, Motif, Til, etc.It is an enchanting experience to be on a camel safari and local villager preparing a basic meal on wooden lit fire with the most basic means of resources.
