Alleppey Beach
This is one of the most popular spots in the district of Alleppey. The 140-year-old pier extends into the sea. The sea-view park with its boating facilities, on the northern side, is another place to visit while you are at the
beach. There is also an old lighthouse, which attracts its fair share of visitors.
Kanakakkunu palace This beautiful old palace of the Travancore kings is a stunning piece of
architectural excellence. At night, when garden lamps light the palace grounds, the pagoda style red brick structure comes alive. It takes one to the era of the majesty of the kings who once inhabited its mighty interiors. There are large crystal chandeliers and exquisite pieces of royal furniture inside the palace.
Champakulam Church
This is one of the oldest churches in Kerala. The St. Mary's Church is believed to be one of the seven established by St Thomas.
Chettikulangara Bhagwati Temple A distinctive feature of this temple is the huge oil lamp called Kathuvilakku (made of granite). This accommodates more than a thousand wicks.The Bhadrakali deity is said to have miraculous power. The temple is filled with feverous activity in the months of February and March.
Coir Manufacturers An interesting trip while visiting this part of India is to take a tour through the coir factories. Manufactured from coconut husk into rope or coir yarn, it makes an interesting dekko.

Alleppey – Kuttanad
The alluring backwaters and the amazing backwater houseboats attract thousands of tourists to this place. You may get on these boats and interact with a colourful and varied group of locals or take a ride into Kuttanad through lush green fields and watch coir workers soak, beat and weave coconut fibres into long ropes on spindles.
Ambalapuzha Temple This famous Sri Krishna temple at Ambalapuzha is known for its traditional Kerala architecture. Worth mentioning is its delicious payasam (sweet porridge made with milk).
