Eating Out and Restaurants : |
In Alleppey, most eateries serve vegetarian food. That does not mean that the meat eater goes hungry! There are a few places catering to your taste. A word of advice: you must drink a lot of readily available coconut water.
Besides quenching thirst, it gives you an instant energy boost. For those who love to snack, the freshly fried banana chips, from pepper flavoured to plain salted, are a boon. |
|
|
A word of caution for those addicted to the Western taste: European cuisines are not really as good as the Indian cuisines.
Food in Kerala has a very distinct taste
owing to it being cooked in coconut oil and with coconut. Although delicious,
it tends to be spicy. Please mention your taste to the waiter before you order.
Here are some of our recommended eateries:
Vembanad Restaurant at the Alleppey Prince Hotel is comfortable and air-conditioned. It serves excellent vegetarian food and meat.
Hotel Rajas is a basic vegetarian and non-vegetarian restaurant.
Annapurna, near the Medical College, serves good, vegetarian food only.
Arun, is a popular restaurant at the Komala Hotel, Zilla Court Ward. It serves very good Indian vegetarian and Chinese food.
Needless to say, in your tour, you will come across several good restaurants yourself.
