The passenger coaches which were originally meant to be the personal railway coaches of the erstwhile rulers of princely states of Rajputana, Gujarat, the Nizam of Hyderabad and the Viceroy of British India. These coaches were not being used by the Indian Railways after independence in normal passenger trains on account of very rich and traditional interiors.
The name "Palace on Wheels" was derived from its royal back-ground of the coaches. A new meter gauge air conditioned Palace-on-Wheels was introduced in 1984 & had 13 Saloons, 2 Restaurant cum Kitchen car, one Bar cum Lounge and 4 Service Cars. In order to further increase the amenities on the train and due to over all gauge conversion in the state, a new broad gauge Palace-on-Wheels has been constructed & has been running since 1996. It's 14 Saloons are inter-connected, the interiors of the saloons reflect the aesthetics of the former Royal states of Rajasthan. Day 01 : (Tue) : Arrive New Delhi
Arrival Delhi, as per your flight schedule pickup from New Delhi airport and transfer to hotel, day at your rest, Overnight stay at hotel.
Day 02 : (Wed) : New Delh – Royal Rajasthan on Wheels
Morning after breakfast, half day city tour of Old and New Delhi. Afternoon transfer to the Railway station to join the train Palace on Wheels and your journey starts. Dinner on board.
Day 03 : : (Thu) : Jaipur
Sightseeing of Jaipur, famous as "The Pink City". Also visit Amber Fort; ascend the Fort on an elephant. Evening depart for Sawai Madhopur.
Day 04 : : (Fri) : Ranthambore & Chittorgarh
Arrive Sawai Madhopur in the morning and drive to Ranthambore for wildlife viewing. Continue on to Chittorgarh to see the hilltop fortress, lauded in legends of valor & chivalry.
Day 05 : : (Sat) : Udaipur
A day excursion by coach to Udaipur, the city of palaces, lakes & gardens. Sightseeing includes visit to the City Palace complex. Return to the train for an overnight journey to Jaisalmer.
Day 06 : : (Sun) : Jaisalmer
Morning tour of the city includes impressive Fort. Afternoon visit the Sam sand dunes for a short camel ride and afternoon tea. Dinner in Jaisalmer before returning to the train.
Day 07 : : (Mon) : Jodhpur
Morning sightseeing of Jodhpur, known for its rock solid Meharangarh Fort, Jaswant Thada and group of Royal Cenotaphs made of White marble.
Day 08 : : (Tue) : Bharatpur & Agra
Early morning visit Bharatpur Bird Sanctuary; Continue on to Agra to see the Taj Mahal and Agra Fort. En route visit Fatehpur Sikri. Evening depart for Delhi. Dinner on board.
Day 09 : : (Wed) : Delhi
Morning arrival in Delhi. Breakfast on board. Transfer to hotel for an overnight stay. Rest of the day at leisure perhaps by the pool of your hotel or for any independent exploration.
Day 10 : : (Thu) : Delhi Departure
Morning at your leisure, later as per your flight schedule transfer to New Delhi airport
to take your flight for your onward journey.
* Note: The Palace on Wheels train departs on every Wednesday from Delhi.
All pricing is based on twin/double -sharing for two-guest traveling together
The given cost is based on per person per day on twin sharing basis, only for the Luxury train tour, the additional day before and after the tour as mention in the Itinerary will be on request as per your travel dates.
Additional Service Tax of 2.58 % for all the train tours.
Plus Commercial tax of USD 15 per person for POW & Royal Rajasthan on wheels.
